Dragon NaturallySpeaking Version 9 introduced a host of new features, one of which is support for Bluetooth headsets and microphones. Bluetooth microphones provide an added benefit for business users who move frequently and cannot stay near a computer. Because of the sensitivity required for accurate transcription, headsets designed for use with cell phones often have too much static and interference to work effectively with dictation software. Therefore, users should purchase a high-quality headset to get the most value out of the software.
1.Your Bluetooth Headset is designed for hands-free communication with your. In the Sound dialog, make sure the Dragon Bluetooth Wireless Headset ('. Please follow all care and maintenance instructions to prolong the life of your device.
Check the compatibility of your Bluetooth headset against the hardware compatibility list maintained on the Nuance Communications website.
2.Pair the headset with your computer. For Windows PCs, click on the arrow in the System Tray to show the hidden icons and right-click on the Bluetooth icon. Select 'Add a device' from the menu and follow the on-screen instructions to add the headset. Enter the passcode, if required. The passcode should be located in the product documentation. In order for pairing to be successful, the headset must be compatible with the operating system and the computer must support Bluetooth connections.
3.Open Dragon NaturallySpeaking. If this is the first time you have used the program, a wizard opens prompting you to create a new user profile. Type your name in the appropriate field and select the dictation language from the language drop-down list. Select 'Bluetooth' as the 'Dictation Source' and then click 'Advanced.' Select 'Bluetooth 8Khz' for the greatest recognition accuracy.
4.Click 'Naturally Speaking,' 'Open User,' 'Source' and then 'New.' Follow the on-screen prompts to create an additional dictation source if you already have a user profile set up. Select 'Bluetooth' as the dictation source and 'Bluetooth 8Khz' in 'Advanced.'
5.Click 'Next.' Position your headset as directed in the on-screen instructions and click 'Next.'
6.Click 'Start Volume Check' and begin reading the displayed text aloud. Click 'Next' when the program beeps to show that volume checks have been completed.
7.Click 'Start Quality Check' in the 'Adjust Your Microphone: Quality Check' screen and read aloud the text in the boxes. Dragon evaluates the sound quality and displays 'PASSED' when the volume checks have completed. Click 'Continue.' This starts the initial user training program where Dragon learns to adapt to your voice.
Tip
- Some Bluetooth devices may not work well with Dragon NaturallySpeaking. Always check the compatibility list before purchasing a Bluetooth headset.
